The Lake Trail: Palm Beach Island's Most Beloved Walk

The Lake Trail runs 5.6 miles along the western shore of Palm Beach Island, separated from the Intracoastal Waterway by a narrow strip of vegetation that creates one of South Florida's most picturesque walking and cycling environments. The trail is flat, well-maintained, and passes through a landscape of Palm Beach estates, historic properties, and mature tropical vegetation that is simply unlike anything else accessible from a South Florida condo address.

The trail begins near the Worth Avenue end of Palm Beach Island and runs north to the Sailfish Club, passing by landmark properties and with consistent water views across Lake Worth Lagoon toward WPB's skyline. The return journey offers the same views in reverse, making the full out-and-back loop a 10–11 mile experience that serious cyclists and fitness walkers do regularly throughout the season.

For WPB condo residents, the Lake Trail is accessible by bicycle or car across the Royal Park Bridge from downtown WPB, or across the Southern Boulevard Bridge from the Flagler Drive corridor. Many North Flagler Drive building residents cycle directly to the bridge access from their buildings. The trail is at its most beautiful in the early morning — the light across the water, the relative quiet of the Island before the day begins, and the visual quality of the landscape create an experience that residents consistently describe as one of their favorite parts of WPB life.

The trail is free, requires no registration, and is open year-round. At peak season (January through April) it fills with a mix of serious cyclists, morning walkers, and families — a social scene in its own right.
